Are You Lying To Yourself About Who You Are?

On Sunday’s Behind Closed Door’s radio show the topic was Lying For No Reason. After our guests came on the show and started to share and discuss different situations, the linger underlying topic, was Lying To Yourself.

Commonly we are misunderstood. In the present moment it is not about who you are, or who you think you are. In my opinion life is all about a state of being, being in the present. Who I am and my thought process may change from one moment after the next.

Give up defining yourself to yourself or to others. You won’t die. You will come to life. And don’t be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it’s their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don’t be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious Presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are. –  Eckhart Tolle

Have you ever defined yourself by what you do or what you have? I have experienced people relating who a person is by what they do for a living. For example, when you first meet someone, they ask your name and then the next question is always “what do you do?” Why is that important? What I do does not define who I am as a person, or my true beliefs.

If I had to define myself, I have would have a lot of titles to give. However  my goal is to separate myself from all titles. I’m breaking the chains and just residing in a state of being.
